A message from Alan Fine, writer and director of "The Catalyst" series:

It's hard to ask for money to make a film, so I'd rather not. Instead, I’ve come up with No-Money Crowdfunding.

No-Money Crowdfunding

Only if you must!
We have early web hosting, cloud storage, audio/ video editing and legal costs.

Thank you!

Instead of money, all I need is help collecting scary stories. The idea is an experiment to see if cool barter can be traded for marketing awareness.

Social media is great for promoting a film AFTER funding, because as talent is hired, a press release and a series of social media announcements can be sent out. But until a film is funded, there usually isn’t much to promote.

Except with No-Money Crowdfunding, there will be plenty…

“The Catalyst” True Ghost Stories Archive will promote those who submit by displaying their byline and links to their online media, and as we continue to market our project, more and more eyes will be visiting. Plus submitters are encouraged to promote their own participation with “The Catalyst” True Ghost Stories Archive by Tweeting or Facebooking or Instagraming all their contacts, which will indirectly promote THE OTHER stories and storytellers, which will indirectly promote and increase awareness of “The Catalyst” series itself.

As participation in “The Catalyst” True Ghost Stories Archive grows, with six-degrees of separation, it will grow exponentially, if not by the start of production, then through production, post-production and the start of the next two films, all the while keeping both movie and ghost story fans aware of “The Catalyst” series’ progress.

Investors know films are risky endeavors, so my job has been to package “The Catalyst” in ways that limits that risk. It starts with making sure I have the best script, experienced producers, a cinematographer with a great reel, recognizable actors, storyboards with a clear director’s vision (click and scroll down here) aided by thematic music for the score (click and scroll down here).

With No-Money Crowdfunding, it doesn’t end there. We will also be able to display web visitor statistics showing early project awareness that will be bankable and worthy of a traditional film investment.

So I will be asking for money, but from investors, not followers and fans. If you absolutely must make a financial contribution, that would be so helpful with preliminary costs like web hosting, cloud storage, audio and video editing, legal costs, etc. CLICK HERE or below and I would gladly accept donations. In return, you will get a "Thank you" credit in the film.  But I'd really prefer ghost stories, because I need your help to prove No-Money Crowdfunding can work!

Maybe do both? :-)

Thanks so much!
